Six years on the paperwork side of drywall.

A crew can finish the extra wall before the office has a price for it. An unanswered framing detail can sit in one inbox while the schedule keeps moving. Those are the handoffs Chris worked with while handling change orders and tracking RFIs inside a commercial drywall subcontractor.

That experience shapes the questions at KLYX. Where does the field record go? Who turns it into a submission? What tells the PM that a decision is overdue? The people doing the work are carrying the process. When the record depends on memory, it is a systems problem.

Chris’s largest client to date is a $15M commercial drywall and metal stud framing company that also paints. KLYX’s primary focus is shops doing roughly $5–30M a year, with several active jobs and a small office.

The useful part is getting work across the finish line.

A change order draft has value when it reaches the right reviewer with the supporting record. An estimator gets another package out when invites, addenda, and follow-ups stop consuming the time needed to price it. Equipment history becomes useful when it can inform the next job’s estimate.

Chris reviews the whole handoff before proposing a tool. Some steps need AI to organize unstructured information. Others need a consistent record, a reminder, or a named approval owner. The build follows that diagnosis.

HOW CHRIS APPROACHES THE WORK

Review. Audit. Build around the real work.

01

Map the handoffs.

Bring representative records and the people responsible for them. The Operations Review maps how work moves through the office and ranks what to investigate first.

02

Scope the audit.

Check inputs, access, exceptions, and approval rules. Procore, Autodesk, Bluebeam, Microsoft 365, QuickBooks, and Foundation are starting points for an access review, not a blanket integration promise.

03

Test the agreed build.

Use representative work to check drafts, routing, and approvals. Make ownership clear, document the process, and agree on training and support before the handoff.

BEFORE YOU START

Questions about working with Chris.

What does a construction AI expert actually do?

Start with the work: who receives a field note, who prices it, and who approves the submission. Chris reviews those handoffs before choosing automation. AI can help organize records, prepare drafts, and surface missing information. The implementation also needs clear ownership, reliable inputs, and a person responsible for reviewing the output.

What construction experience does Chris Estrada have?

Chris spent six years handling change orders and tracking RFIs inside a commercial drywall subcontractor. His largest client to date is a $15M commercial drywall and metal stud framing company that also paints. These are the experience and client facts behind KLYX’s focus; they are not a claim of a particular financial result.

Will we work directly with Chris?

Yes. The Operations Review starts with Chris and the people who own the workflows in your office. You discuss representative records, your existing software, and where work gets held up. The next step is a scoped operations audit, then an agreed implementation. Responsibilities and any additional support are defined in that scope.

Does AI approve change orders or send work to the GC?

Your authorized people keep control of pricing, technical answers, external submissions, and purchasing commitments. A workflow can prepare a draft or identify a missing record, but its approval boundaries are agreed before implementation. We test those boundaries with your team using representative work before relying on the system in daily operations.

Does Chris work with contractors outside Phoenix?

Yes. KLYX is based in Phoenix and works with commercial specialty subcontractors nationwide. Reviews, implementation sessions, and training can run remotely. If an office or warehouse visit would help, it is discussed during scoping. The primary fit is commercial drywall and framing companies doing roughly $5–30M a year.
